The Dynamic Drum School, founded by Chris Lemp, offers fun and informative individual or group drum lessons in Orange County, CA. You can choose to have the drum lessons in the comfort of your home or at our studio in Santa Ana, CA. Chris Lemp has been a professional drummer and private instructor for over 18 years. He attended the New England Conservatory of Music and Purchase College of Music, graduating Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor’s Degree in music. Chris has taught at the Preparatory School, at the New England Conservatory of Music, Loomis Chaffee in Windsor, CT, the Harvey School in Katonah, NY, the Forman School in Litchfield, CT, and at several music facilities throughout New England and the New York Tri-State area. Chris recently relocated to Orange County, CA, after over a decade of teaching and performing in New York.
As a professional drummer, Chris has performed and or recorded with Johnnie Johnson (Chuck Berry), Nat Reeves (Sting, Kenny Garrett), Stanley Jordan, Charles Flores (Michel Camilo), Jim Pugh (Steely Dan, Barbara Streisand, Paul Simon), Juan Pablo Torres, 5 time Grammy nominated band Roomful of Blues, Dario Eskenazi, Hector Martigon, Gary Mazzoroppi, Thomas Bramerie, Steve Davis (Chick Corea), Jimmy Greene, Eijiro Nakagawa, the Mills Brothers, Jovino Santos Neto, Pete Malinverni, and many others. Chris has performed and toured in Canada, Europe, South America, Asia, and in 46 states throughout the United States. Some of the venues and festivals he has played at include: the Regatta Bar, B.B. Kings, CBGB’s, the Bottom Line, Jazz Alley, Yoshi’s, Irving Plaza, House of Blues, Sine, the Wetlands, the Monterey Blues Festival, the Ottawa Jazz Festival, the 55 Bar, the Tarrytown Music Hall, Dakota Jazz Club, the Beale Street Music Festival, Bimbo’s 365 Club, the Tralf, the Rosebud, the Waterfront Blues Festival, the Berk’s Jazz Festival, the Oroville Blues Festival, the Lisbon, Portugal Jazz Festival and the Hartford Jazz Festival.
Chris has studied extensively, many different styles and techniques, with many of today’s top drummers including: John Riley, Bob Moses, Mark Walker, Fred Buda, Joe Morello, Ian Froman, Dom Famularo, Jammy Haddad, Kenny Washington and others.
